Apple Begins Siri AI Public Beta Rollout

Apple begins rolling out Siri AI in English beta across supported devices with its 2027 operating-system releases.

Product Launch

What Happened

On September 14, 2026, Apple began the English beta rollout of Siri AI with its 2027 software releases. Apple had announced the rebuilt assistant and opened developer testing on June 8; September 14 is the public-rollout event.

Why It Matters

The release brought conversational reasoning, personal context, onscreen awareness, and application actions into the operating-system assistant across Apple's ecosystem. It connected generative AI to everyday device functions rather than requiring users to move every task into a separate chatbot.

Technical Details

Apple describes foundation models developed in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models, running on devices and through Private Cloud Compute. A system orchestrator accesses on-device services including Spotlight and App Toolbox. Availability depended on compatible hardware and language. Siri AI initially excluded iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS in the EU, and was unavailable in China. Additional languages were announced for the following month.
