Why It Matters
A model family centered on executing long-running agent tasks became available through mass-market products as well as APIs. The same release made an agent-oriented model the default in Search AI Mode and the Gemini app. That distribution connected advances in autonomous workflows with services used well beyond specialist developer and research audiences.
Technical Details
The release integrated with the Antigravity agent harness and supported coordinated subagents. Google reported improved coding and agent-task performance over Gemini 3.1 Pro. The announcement's future plans for Gemini 3.5 Pro were not a release of that model.
